Mission finally accomplished!! Loosened up that belt, performed the test, she's running fine. Saved her again!! Thanks Cactus Bob for all that helpful advice on this last round. We are learning a lot more about this washing machine than we ever thought possible. It does have a tiny leak coming from the grommet area but I am saving that one for the next time we want to take the washing machine apart. Many, many thanks again.

Thanks for posting the pics. That is exactly what I am talking about. New problem: we installed the new drain pump and put it back together again and...nothing is moving. Is it possible to make the belt too tight? We didn't have this problem when we un-froze the drain pump before. This time, as it was going to go into spin, it started buzzing, smelled something and stopped it immediately. Went to the back of the machine and tried to make the belt move and it wouldn't budge. What's the correction for this? Thanks in advance.

Un-freezing the drain pump was a temporary measure. I ordered a new drain pump. The only connection we are having trouble with is at the bottom of the basket. How is the manifold assembly secured to the bottom of the basket? In the diagram above, this is #22, #23, #24. It has loosened from the bottom of the machine and we can't figure out how to make that connection tighter. Installing the new drain pump is no problem at all, except this connection. Thanks for any and all help you can give me.
