to increase accuracy when using the thermocouple, attach it to one of the larger bulldog type paper clips, this adds a thermal mass that will not fluctuate as rapidly.

quite likely, seen it numerous times, one quick way to check. When it stops apply some slight sideways torque to the timer knob. if it starts up. there's your problem.

They work so good I am tempted to get one and give up my redneck technique of spring removal, "Stretch the spring out and jam a metal electrical box in the coils."
