Posts I've Made

Update 2;

Replaced motor/controller part# Part number: 12002039

Part number: 12002039

, again. Success !!

So, I'm not sure how I went so wrong, but it was not a cheap lesson.

What I did learn;

The "Basic Motor Function Test" did not seem to apply to the updated motor/controller, because (1) the motor and tub would spin continuously at 50 rpm with the j4 connector unplugged, indicating the problem lies outside the drive system, and (2) there is no way to check the phase operation on the updated motor/controller.

The failed motor made a higher pitched whine even in the tumble cycle than the new motor.

The original motor/controller lasted about 15yrs I think. The "updated" replacement motor lasted 6 months, with a 90 day warranty from Whirlpool. How is that better?

The carnage;

Since Jan. 2014,

2 ea. 12002039 motor/controller kits

1 ea. 22002989 machine control board (not needed)

1 ea. 12002535 wax motor (not needed)

Many hours of labor and hundreds of curse words.

This will take many beers to get over. :wallbash:

Update;

Replaced machine control and wax motor, no change.

Removed belt and tried spin cycle, no change. Motor starts then stops, starts again then stops, starts again then machine powers off, lock light stays lit for about 1 min then off.

In wash cycle starts to fill and agitate/tumble, motor tumbles a few seconds then stops, tumbles the other direction then stops, starts to tumble again then machine powers off.

Any wisdom would be much appreciated.

I did look at the machine control, and specifically R11. Visually it appears OK.

 Performed "drive system test", machine tumbles continuously at 50 rpm. I don't think it is possible to perform phase test on "new" style motor controller.

This appears to be the same test as  the " basic motor test".

Model# is MAH4000AWW

Serial# is 53311561YK

New style motor/controller Part number: 12002039

Part number: 12002039

was installed Jan.10, 2014

Balance circuit checks OK at  machine control. Checked each switch, all ok. Jumpered switch circuit, no change. In wash or rinse washer starts to fill and agitate 1-2 min then powers off, in spin drain pump comes on and starts to spin then powers off 1-2 min. door lock light is on and switches all activated. Performed "drive system test", machine tumbles continuously at 50 rpm. I don't think it is possible to perform phase test on "new" style motor controller.
