HE top loaders - are they any good

16 August 2012 - 10:26 AM

The 'ol Bosh has been given it's last rites and I'm now getting sick of hitting the laundrymat. I'm looking at the top-loading HE washers as I've had too many gasket/counterweight issues with my prior front loaders. Any feedback on how the top loading HE washers perform?

Bosch WFMC5301UC/16 counterweights fell off

28 July 2012 - 01:11 AM

My wife called me this afternoon to tell me that our washing machine had walked 1/2 way across the laundry room and was chewing up the rubber boot. I got home to find both of the front counterweights laying on the ground. The top mount on each side broke off, and one of the counterweights cracked in 1/2.

It looks like only way to get the front tub (to replace the broken mounts) is to order the whole assembly, and combined with a counterweight it gets me 2/3 of the way to the purchase price... and since this thing has been a bit of a lemon I'm inclined to retire it, unless anyone has suggestions on re-mounting the counterweights without replacing the front tub. Any good ideas on rebuilding the broken mounts?

Inexpensive dryer reccomendation

30 January 2012 - 01:57 PM

I'm looking for an inexpensive electric dryer. Our gas dryer started leaking gas this weekend, and while I'm thinking it would be a quick fix, the dear wife is freaked out about the leak and is putting the foot down on a new electric dryer.

I haven't bought an electronic one in over two decades - any recommendations?

Bosh WFMC5301 door seal/boot

16 February 2011 - 09:31 PM

I've got a WFMC5301 that has gone through two door seals while under warranty and has ripped yet another. How hard are the boots to replace on these machines, and what might cause the ripping? In the old house floor was SO uneven that leveling was very hard. Just moved cross country, and new floor is level as bedrock. Hoping that will make things a little better.
