I did remove the rear panel... no help. I mean, I could get to the rear-most "leaf" from there, but still could not access the valleys.

Yeah I saw that bit... I thought I was safe since I had a stash of old detergent on-hand. I had no idea that detergents expired! And of course, when they started not getting clean, we added more detergent...

Thanks for the skinny on the icemaker, because I was really looking at the in-door ice bin models. Just curious... what goes wrong with the in-door ice bin?

I know about the woeful lack of freezer space with a SxS... but I have a full-size upright freezer in the garage, so I should be fine in that dept. I've just gotten too spoiled with the ice/water dispenser with our current SxS; pathetic, I know...
