In Topic: Kitchenaid KHTU705SSS0 MR16 lamp sockets & bulb clip holders worn out

APPLIANTOLOGY EXPERTS ... HEADS UP .... The Whirlpool socket kit W10337300 by itself, DOES NOT WORK.  My Rangehood is a KHTU705SSS and according to the experts database original part number 8190542 is replaced by it.  I repeat: it DOES NOT WORK as a full replacement.  Only the socket itself and the spade lug pigtail fit.  The included screws are WRONG.  They are fine thread and the original screws are bigger and course thread.  The included bulb spring clamp is WRONG.  The included bulb lamp spring fingers are only 1/4" tall.  The MR16 bulb recess grooves that need those fingers are almost 7/16" tall.  I was able to get the range hood going by reusing the old screws and the old spring clips.

DEALING WITH MODERN WHIRLPOOL PARTS OR DATABASES IS LIKE SHOOTING CRAPS.  GET THE POINT.  What a bunch of bandits this industry is run by.  AND I GOT TO SAY, SEARS IS THE WORST.

Is there anyone out there in Appliantology Land that has worked on KitchenAid range hoods?  I cannot believe I am the first person to have to change the lamp sockets in mind.

My range hood has two MR16 halogen lamp sockets on the front lip.  The replacement socket kit already has spade terminals crimped on the new sockets and there are two sheet metal screws that hold the socket in place.

My question is:  can these be changed without removing the whole range hood?  My range hood was a PITA to install and now it is caulked in and stable.  I do not want to remove it.

Has no one every done this?  Hard to believe.

This is a Kitchenaid range hood, model KHTU705SSS0, that uses two MR16 20W 2 pin halogen bulbs.  The MR16 bulbs are industry standard bulb type and so the socket must be somewhat common for Whirlpool or Kitchenaid.

My first time having to change these so would appreciate any comments or pointers.  Both the clips and the sockets are bad.

Thank you.

The new panel came in and the diagnostic HT => ES => HT => ES worked okay.  It will be another day before we have enough dishes to wash but it sure looks like the unit is responding.  Question:  does this removed panel have any value to anyone or should I just toss it in the recycle bin ??

Thank you.  I tried the HT => ES => ES => HT => ES => ES  and did it twice but nothing.  I also tried the HT => ES => HT => ES again.  When the new panel comes in, I will try these then.  Hopefully I won't scramble the new logic :-) ...
