GE IM6 ice maker over filling

24 March 2015 - 07:19 PM

I've recently installed a new GE IM6 unit.  It has the mechanical off switch which holds the paddle back.  They told me that after the ice maker harvested once, they saw water coming out of the door dispenser so they shut the water off.  I returned  and activated the cycle by turning the ejector arm slightly clockwise.  It made  it through and filled perfectly (valve shut off like it is supposed to). Now the owners say there's what was described as a sheet of ice coming down the back.  One thing that struck me as odd is the ejector arm comes to rest in the 9 o-clock position as you are looking at the head of the unit.  I never paid much attention to prior installs to know if this is right but it seems if it makes a complete rotation and stops at 9 o-clock the harvested ice will be sitting on the ejector arm.  I checked and there's no way to swap it 180 degrees.

samsung RS277ACBP Not Cooling Properly

09 December 2014 - 10:46 PM

Hi, I'm not a good samsung guy but this freezer can freeze some things but it only operates at about 25 degrees.  The fridge seems sub par but lets not go there yet.  All fans seem to be ok but the freezer coil has frost only at the top 2 inches.  Everything below is completely clear.

Whirlpool gx5shdxvq02 JAZZ Board part change

02 September 2014 - 06:42 PM

It seems JAZZ board part number 12784415 has been replaced by Part number: W10503278

Part number: W10503278

. This is pretty recent.  Anyone know the difference?  I expect 12784415 will still work.

Identify my Crosley Blower Wheel CDE-8000GBL

24 August 2014 - 10:44 AM

The blower wheel on this unit is broken.  Everywhere I look it calls for blower Part number: 31001317

Part number: 31001317

.  This wheel requires a clamp and snap ring to mount on a smooth shaft.  This unit has a keyed, threaded shaft on motor S58MXSDD-6989.  HERE is a picture of it.  Anyone know which one it is?

TIA

Kenmore Dryer Intermittently Gets Too Hot 110.66982501

14 May 2014 - 11:02 AM

Owners claims the top cabinet of the dryer sometimes is so hot you can't touch it.  they say it will do in any cycle at any temp setting.  I observed the exhaust is clear, blower wheel functions properly, element is intact and isolated from the chassis, thermistor resistance ok (10.4k at about 77f). Temp relay cycling element properly.  My initial thought was to replace thermostat/cut off at the element (not the high limit cut off) but it seems the temperature on this unit is controlled by the control board and thermistor.  Hard to diagnose a problem when it doesn't exist while you are there but I figure someone here knows this like the back of their hand.  Thanks
