Kurt can jam & sing as well as give great technical advice.    Durham can pencil in a tune no doubt along with his many other talents.   Got to get him some Blue Bell Rocky Rocky Road,   The both are enjoyable to Vox with, look forward to the chit chats everyday along with all the other fellow  chatty Brethren Voxers.   :rocker:  :rocker:  :dazzler:  :dazzler:

Did not have a tech sheet in cabinet 1st time out.   He told me over phone 'SD'  my notes from last month was "LD"   I think I used another vertical washer's book for diagnostic.   My memory was foggy when I posted, but it is coming back to me now.   I will check my downloads.   I was thinking the unit was a front load, I have done a few maytag FL lately.  Had a diabetes brain fart.   I apologize, should not have had that Blue Bell last night.

 I concur with elec_Doc about the pump bearing being bad,  replaced a few that sounded the same.   Don't have to take front off though to access.   I would lean washer back, put something like a paint can to rest washer on.    You can access the belt from below, comes off easy.   Spin pump pulley should be able to fill the bad when spun by hand.     Check for belt droppings also (black debri)   If pump is bad which I believe it can lock up on you possible cause collateral damage.     I always install a new belt with my repair.

#291514 Kenmore 417.97822701 dryer won't heat

Posted by Patricio on 23 April 2014 - 10:01 AM

Digital multimeters that do basic stuff are very cheap to purchase,  Walmart. Lowes, Home Depot, etc.   Research here on appliantology how to use one so you don't hurt yourself,  220 voltage is very dangerous if approached not knowing safety techniques.

Electro_Doc gives good advice, check for correct  voltage at receptacle.   One more thing are you sure you have the correct double breaker for the dryer.  Should be a 30 amp double.    I say this because I went on a call that a customer was adamant that the breaker was the correct one.   Turned out he was checking the water heater breaker & was not happy with a service call fee.   The dryer breaker had one leg tripped & was not that visible to the untrained eye.

Pull the back panel & do evaluation of frost pattern.   If iced over, defrost with steamer or hair dryer,   No, a heat gun is not a good idea, it can melt the plastic liner when you least expect it.   I have used a sprayer with warm water, just be sure to have a method of sopping up the excess water, ie. towels, wet vac.

#290093 Kenmore FL washer F6 error code

Posted by Patricio on 06 April 2014 - 07:30 PM

Look for 120 volts between the two pink wires at the MCU ... and check for 5 volts DC between the two outside blue wires on the MCU.  Also check the wire harness between the MCU and the motor ... if all test good, then it looks like a MCU to me.

2 weeks later with MCU in hand, I swap them out & fire up machine in a drain & spin mode.  Then put into a diagnostic mode.  Ran just fine as if nothing was ever wrong.  Final test run a normal cycle with a heavy load of jeans.  Happy, happy, Lady.     Oh and i sold a surge protector recommended by the big one.   Happy, happy Patricio.   An Appliantology Sensei repair & a Blue Book compensation.   I love my job.     :thanks:

Looks easy, more difficult than it shows.    Wait to you do the back side.    I always tilt the tub to the spring I am working on.

Follow up post:  Installed new sump assembly with motor,   Put new turgidity sensor also.    Pump now pulls over 2 amps, machine is a lot quieter.  If this does not restore the  washability  factor I am going to quit the appliance business............................................for a day.   I think I'll take my yak & poles & hit the water.   Limits for specs & reds are there to be had.          Are you ready for some fish,,,,

#287615 Chessedork attacks again

Posted by Patricio on 12 March 2014 - 10:21 PM

Yea he did. left a message, said he was not ignoring my calls rather he had been offshore for the last 2 weeks (lie).   Stated he was not going to pay me $70 (tax included) for "just throwing a breaker",   Also stated dryer never worked (his wife contradicted that statement, she does the wash)  And if I would come & fix it He would pay me $70.    I think he just sobered up & does not realize his better half already made good on the bill.     The more I know people the more I learn.
