I believe a new icemaker is going to solve your problems.

If you can turn the, "Plastic comb", ejector rake by hand then something inside the module of the icemaker is broken. You should never turn this style of icemaker by hand.

A very common problem is for the little tabs that keep the front gear that has a printed circuit board under it in place. When one or both of the tabs break off it gets out of time or stops it because the board isn't held correctly against the contact fingers.

The most likely reason for the water in the ice tray after you had felt frozen ice is the heater in the icemaker came on to release the ice cubes but since the ejector rake isn't being turned correctly it can't eject the cubes and just melts them turning all back to water again. That would also be the reason for the ejector rake being now frozen into the middle of the ice cubes.

You hit the nail on the head. I went to remove the unit to test and the dial had actually sheered off and was sitting in the white cover. part ordered. Thank you guys for your help.

... gotta wait till it freezes ... :whistling:
Freezer need to be +15F or colder for IceMaker to "harvest" the frozen Cubes

sorry, let me elaborate. freezer had been cold and closed. I had just checked the tray a few minutes before and the ice was still stuck in there. But then I came back and there was water in the tray with little ice cubes as if it were melting the ice...in fact I have no idea where the ice went that was in there before if it hadn't melted. I have no idea what started the melt. I didn't ever hear the sound of the tray filling (but I could have missed that) Could it be a problem with the gear that turns the ejector bar? (Just checked the I/M and the ejector bar is lodged in the now refrozen ice.)

Thanks for your help guys.

Ignitor is definitely broken. Just to be thorough, there was no snap.
