Kenmore 106.53569202 Icemaker not making ice

06 October 2011 - 01:43 AM

My Kenmore Side by Side 106.53569202 has had some issues making ice lately. The problem was an off and on one and usually, wiping the sensor eye off would let it start cycling again. About 2 months ago, we began to have a problem with the water pressure out of the water dispenser slowing down considerably and it was only making tiny little ice slivers, if any at all. I did all of the normal checks - we live in hard water land, so I did the usual - checked the angle stop and found no blockage, checked for kinks in the line, etc, and before I found the All Mighty Samurai, I was left with the only option of calling a repairman. He showed me the solenoid (Water value? I think he called it) at the base (right bottom side looking at the rear of the fridge) was stuck/clogged. Luckily, it started working again when we tested it and he did not have the replacement part on the truck so he just left it and charged me for the visit. The fridge has been working fine since that time (about a month ago)...until this last weekend. We emptied the ice into the cooler for camping and we came back after a nice weekend to an icemaker on strike.

I gave a lot of back story because I hope to speed the diagnosis process up if I can. I am ordering a part for my dryer that broke the same weekend and I'd like to kill two birds with one stone.

Other things that I have done that may or may not be pertinent to the problem at hand:
-I removed the ice making tray about a year ago and cleaned it because the "no flake" coating was/is flaking. My heart would not be broken to replace that.
-The nozzle at the top of the freezer does not appear to be clogged and 10 minutes with the hairdryer didn't fix anything.
-The tray was empty and the little plastic comb that pushes the ice out of the tray just spins (in one direction)
-I tried filling the tray with water and the first set actually froze and dispensed but it hasn't moved since then (when I tried filling it again).

There are two many variables for this grasshopper to wrap his head around. (I know that I've got a lot going on here.) Anyone out there who might be able to help me trouble shoot this beast?

Kenmore Gas Dryer 110.73942101 won't heat

03 October 2011 - 04:54 PM

I have a Kenmore 110-73942101 Gas dryer that just stopped heating. I can fix it if I just knew what to do. I have gone through the basics of checking/clearing the venting, washing the lint screen, running a cycle without the vent connected, etc.

The dryer motor runs, drum turns, blows strong from the back of the dryer but the heat does not come on (at all).

I have not started unscrewing stuff and decided i would do some online research first. Any help would be appreciated. I have a sick 5 year old that has the flu right now and we NEED laundry...

Thanks in advance for any help and/or assistance.
