Icicles in Freezer!

15 July 2013 - 08:46 PM

I'm having trouble with my Kenmore Elite Trio bottom freezer - Model No. 795.78542.806.

This model has an in-freezer ice maker in the top left portion of the freezer.  Since we moved (it's been over a year), we've had issues in the freezer near the ice maker.

First we noticed that the ice bin below the ice maker gets frozen along the bottom.  Every so often, we have to defrost the thing in the sink to clear out the sheet of ice on the bottom.  Again, this has been going on for at least a year.  More of a nuisance than anything else.

Now, however, it's getting worse.  (Or at least I think it's the same issue getting worse.)  We're now noticing icicles and some frost forming on the rear of the freezer compartment - but only in the area behind the ice maker.  The rest of the freezer is frost-free.  Tonight, for the first time, the fan to the freezer made a louder-than-normal sound.  Not much, but enough to notice.

I observed an ice maker fill cycle, and I do not see any splashing.  I also checked to make sure no water sloshed out of the ice maker when the door gets closed firmly - it doesn't slosh.

The only difference between the refrigerator when it was at my old house versus at my new house is that it has a very slight backwards lean to it now, whereas in the old house it had a very slight forward lean to it.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Leveling a Kenmore Elite Trio Fridge

06 May 2012 - 07:55 AM

The subject: a Kenmore Elite Trio fridge, model 795.7584.

The issue: Leveling

The problem: There only seems to be two leveling stabilizer feet in front - and I can't find a way to adjust the front or the rear rollers. The problem is that the fridge is too high in the front, but I can't lower it beyond the seemingly fixed height of the front rollers. I need another 1/8 inch.

The question: Can Sensei offer any enlightenment? Or am I doomed to off-kilterdom?

Maytag Dishwasher Leak - MDB4040AWB

03 October 2011 - 06:37 PM

Maytag Dishwasher MDB4040AWB. Leaks, right above the motor. Drips down both sides of it, over the metal "shields" that are right below the hoses on either side. Even after the drain cycle is done running. I am mechanically inclined, but still an apprentice. Can I just assume it's a main tub seal, order a couple of O-rings, and get to work? Or is there a more scientific process I should be performing? Any other washers/gaskets I should be looking at?
