I'll second your Bosch and raise a Miele! Frigging replacement control module costs about as much as a brand new D/W. And don't get me started on the control panel.

Fluke 289 for me. I think some of the relatively high list price is due to the data logging feature; not so useful for me. However, I found a very low price one on e-bay. I don't know which of the other models have the temperature reading capability but I find it very useful for checking when the roast is done. Can't be too accurate when chasing medium rare!

Hi Pat,

I PMed the Whirlpool study guide, "Electrical Theory And Diagnosis Of Major Appliances" that should give you a good foundation for coming up to speed on these newfangled electronified appliances.

Ooooh, that study guide sounds like good reading. Can you send the PM my way Sensei?

just to add my two cents worth, make sure you chase this problem to the end. Although not from the same discwasher my friend's D/W started a fire which, if it wasn't for their kid skipping school that day would have taken out the whole house. According to the firemen D/W fires are one of the leading causes of house fires. Never heard that before.
