Stainless Steel & Bleach - I know, right?

04 May 2015 - 09:29 PM

I cleaned the kitchen today and I discovered something.  Nobody is going to believe me on this one.  Stainless steel and bleach.  I know, right?  My appliances looked like shit because I don't wipe them off every week.  I mean, who does?  I use this Stainless Steel wipe (Weiman Stainless Steel Wipe) which comes in a container and - well, I don't know what it in it.  It works.  But living in Florida my Stainless Steel rusts in spots if you don't use it weekly.  If even streaks if you don't wipe it down "just so".  Well I was cleaning my refrigerator and I was wiping down the black molding seal with bleach (diluted a bit) and I noticed that my Stainless Steel was *sparkling clean* next to the molding .

Damn!  So I wiped over it with my Weiman Stainless Steel Wipe to clean off the bleach. I stood back and it looked better than the rest of the refrigerator I had wiped down with the wipe.  So I went for it with the bleach and the wipes.  And I am a Genius! My appliances have never looked this good!  Even my dishwasher where I spilled some dishwasher detergent inside and it left a stain (for some reason) is GONE.  The rust stains are gone after I wiped them down with the Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes.

I have no idea how or why this worked. Maybe kitchen grease build up?  But it doesn't make sense for inside of my dishwasher.  I've been trying to get rid of that detergent stain for a long time and it wasn't until now that it worked.  ALL my appliances look new.  They are no longer streaky or anything.  The outside of my dishwasher has always looked a little streaky for some reason compared to the rest of the appliances.  But no more.  I know - I was I a little scared to do it but I just went for it.  I can post pictures if you want.  I figured the Weiman Stainless Steel Wipes would seal the Stainless steel sort of.  They look great to me.

It's not something I would do every week or something but for when you want to really clean things up, try some diluted bleach.  It worked for me.

PSS26SGPA Diagnostic Mode?

18 August 2013 - 12:21 PM

PSS26SGPA - is there a diagnostic mode for this fridge?  My freezer is slowly getting warmer day by day.  And it's not the freezer flap this time :(

It started out at 12 when I first noticed it and now it's up to 19.

GE PSS26SGPA Solenoid - Again!

02 November 2012 - 08:41 PM

Remember this old topic? I had to hunt it down because I'm having to replace the Solenoid - Again!

Oh GE How we love YE

Only this time, it's my fault. DH said - it's kind of Moldy up there. So I had the steam cleaner out and I used it. Too well I guess. That day or the day after that, the flapper quit working.

Well, at least I know what to do this time in advance. Won't do THAT again with the steamer!

PSS26SGPA GE died Company Coming Today! OMG

17 March 2012 - 11:34 AM

I'm back at your mercy! You helped me fix my refrigerator last time - it's been clicking along, no problem. I'm cleaning the house for company, went to get a drink of water and I noticed....my bottle of water is warm! OMG! I looked at the temp on the display and it's 45 on the fridge and hot on the freezer side too! I run to the breakers and they are not flipped. I call my husband and comes home and we pull it out and the fan is running after we pull the back panel off at the bottom. The ice is all melting in the freezer. Where is the reset button? What are we going to do with the house full of company coming for the week?

HELP!

LG Tromm Electric Dryer DLE7177WM

05 December 2010 - 02:34 PM

My LG Dryer isn't broken YET so I'd like to fix it before it goes out completely. When I dry a load of clothes on the HEAVY DUTY - VERY DRY mode they used to get dry completely, now they don't. The last time I opened the door to check on them, I couldn't restart the machine until it cooled off again. This has happened a couple of times now. Thank you.
