Kenmore Elite Trio 596.76502500 Compressor not pumping

19 July 2013 - 11:37 AM

Hi All - We have this unit purchased in 2005 that had the evaporator fan replaced long ago and an unresponsive Advanced Temperature Control that has been stuck on Freezer 0 and refer 40 for a couple of years but running fine otherwise with no problems. 2 days ago I noticed that the freezer temp was 11 degrees, the refer 42 and watched the temps climb over time.  Removed the contents and called the Independent repair guy we use.  He came out and found that although the compressor was running it was not pumping refrigerant.  He exposed the evaporator and found no leaks. His diagnosis was compressor internal failure and while it was running there was no hot output, cold return or noise coming from inside.  The compressor is a Tecumseh TPG1370YXA labelled Brazil.  I have read that there have been a lot of failures with these units and am wondering if this type of failure is one of them and if it could possibly be another problem that the repairman missed although a number of my neighbors have used him with absolutely no complaints.  Thanks, Bob

Jenn-Air and KitchenAid Retractable Down Draft Vent System

27 May 2013 - 11:33 AM

Hi All - I've got a KitchenAid KIRD861VSS that I need to fix.  I've got the install manual with the wiring diagram, the Kac-53 Job Aid and the Service Pointer K4317458.  This unit has a separate toroidal transformer that supplies power for the 33 volt dc motor to raise/lower the vent commanded by the control board.  What I am looking for is any servicing information that gives voltage checks (or anything else)  beyond what I have.  I've found references online relating to failures caused by power outages/surges which is what happened in my case.  The current models of JA and KA have eliminated all the electronics and gone to a 120 volt raise/lower motor much like the 30 year old Thermador Cook-n-Vent  that I reconnected and am using to pull air through the dead KA.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks, Bob

Kitchenaid KIRD861VSS 1 Downdraft Ventilator failure

Hi All: I'm looking for any servicing info on my ventilator. I would like to make some voltage
checks on the electronic control board before I remove it and look for damaged parts. Thanks, Bob
