Richmond Water Heater Not Heating Properly

24 November 2012 - 01:39 AM

I have a 30 Gallon Richmond Water Heater, Model Number 8MV30-2, Upper and lower wattage listed at 4500/3380 each.

It was typically enough water to provide two showers before it ran out. About 3 months ago (yes I have been lazy in dealing with the issue) it started only giving enough water for about one shower.

I eyeballed the top and bottom element from the outside and neither has the appearance of being burned out. To "rectify" the situation, I cranked up the heat, it works, kinda.

I live in an apartment building where the maintenance guy has equal or less skill with this than I do, and the landlady is quite cheap, so replacing it would be like pulling teeth with no anathestic.

Can anyone give me pointers on how to test each of the elements?

I plan to turn off the power next week and drain it, I figure it would be a good time to pull each of the elements to inspect and test them.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Amana Washer Not Working At All Model: NFW7200TW

20 April 2011 - 09:00 AM

I have a Amana front loading washer, model NFW7200TW, serial number 11931929LX,it was working great, last night we had a lightning strike on or near the house and the washer no longer turns on. The strike did pop two circuits in the house, I reset the breaker, I did also check the plug that the washer is on and it does have power. The washer will now not turn on, make any noise do anything. completely black. HELP!

Culligan Soft Minder Twin 5098189 Broken

30 November 2010 - 08:23 PM

I have a culligan Soft Minder Twin Serial Number 5098189 that was installed when I built the house about 12 yrs ago. It recently stopped working. I flushed it out and the water heater thinking that was the issue but to no avail. I had the culligan guy out today to take a look at it and he said that one of the gears was stripped and they dont make parts anymore and we would need a new softener. I was not here when he inspected it. I looked it over this evening and none of the exposed gears are stripped or broken so it must be one in the small electronic gear box that controls the whole thing. I find it hard to believe that I cant find it SOMEWHERE but I AM having a hard time locating it. Please HELP.

Maytag Fridge Down Again After 1 1/2 yrs

08 December 2008 - 05:06 AM

Maytag Plus MSD2556AE side by side refridgerator, replaced the adaptive defrost on it about a year and a half ago. The freezer has completely defrosted (sherbet is soup, I suppose time to make some sort of fruity alcoholic drink with the remains).

I am going home to play amateur detective with my fluke, if it is this (as it is the second time in 4 years it would need replaced) is this natural? A new fridge even with my discount at Best Buy is like $700 - $2K !!!!.

Any thoughts please.
