Thanks for the input. I took everything apart, compared belts, pulley, idler arms, idler pulleys, bolt hole distances, springs, everything... They all checked out fine so I re-installed the original idler arms and pulleys. Then while I was examining the belt I noticed that the ribs didn't seem as deep in the new belt...then I realized i had the belt upside-down! I must have installed the belt with the ribs outward! Definitely felt pretty stupid. I put everything back together and the dryer is fine. Thanks for the advice.

In Topic: Frigidaire Gas dryer FSG747GES1 won't always start

I replaced the motor on this dryer with a used, tested motor. While I had the machine apart, I decided to replace the rear drum bearing and the belt. Now the belt seems to slip. I used the idler pulleys that came with the new-used motor. Is there not enough tension on the belt? Are new belts longer? Very frustrating. Any suggestions are appreciated.

sh2sh2,

Thanks for the information. It's always good to have a little information in hand before discussing with the factory.

PDuff,

Great suggestion. I checked my warranty and it states "Limited 2nd-25th Year Warranty - Replacement part for an inner wash basket that breaks due to a defect in materials or workmanship". Does this failure (from the little that you know from my descriptions) sound like it might be covered by the warranty? Just looking for an opinion before I speak with Frigidaire...

Thanks again.
