#249760 G.E. Fridge SxS Model# PSH23PGPGTAWV, Tired of guessing.

Posted by AlexM on 09 March 2013 - 11:30 PM

About 5 months ago I replaced all (3) thermisors and that seemed to fix the vague tempurature variations.  This week the customer called back with more tempurature swings, mostly getting warm in fresh food and freezer section.  This is what I did yesterday.  Checked the mother board for physical damage on the back and any relays that may have looked bad, all good.  Cleaned the condensor. The compressor and condensor fan seemed to be working.  I opened up the evaporator area and replaced the defrost heater and limit, the evaporator was only icy near the top and it didn't take much to defrost it.  The reason i replaced the heater is because the glass was broke on one end and it was all gray and cloudy inside the tube.

The customer called back 24 hours after my latest repair and still having temp issues.  My suspision is that its a evaporator fan issue.  Finally I will ask my question:  Is there a 'cheat sheet' that someone might have that gives the various circuits and values to be looking for so I can stop guessing?

Also, if I determine that it needs a new evap fan, should I get a new board at the same time?

Also, the board on one of my websites says it would be P/N WR49X10152 but there is a sticker on the back of the fridge that says to replace the board with P/N WR55X10156,  I should go with the one printed on the fridge?  I believe this is a variable speed compressor unit.

#249757 Whirlpool Direct Drive # TAWS850PQ, Transmission Issue?

Posted by AlexM on 09 March 2013 - 11:07 PM

I thought this might be a simple motor coupling job, it wasn't.  There was a humming noise from the motor and the drain pump was clear and good, the coupling was intact, and when the motor was disconnected from the pump and the coupling it ran fine.  When hooked up the motor couldn't turn the basket, is it that simple that the transmission is bad?  if so, is that likely not worth fixing?  the machine is around 7 years old.  What is the scientific way of checking for a bad tranny?  there was no oil or mess in or on the unit.

#247887 3-1 Start Kit, Fire Danger? Do techs use them regularly?

Posted by AlexM on 07 February 2013 - 12:04 AM

Someone told me recently that they never put hard start kit on a compressor becuase it can damamage the compressor and is a potential fire hazard.  I have used them for a couple of days while the factory relay and overload could show up.  I did install one perminantly on a garage fridge. I would love any thoughts on the matter.

#247035 Dacor Oven, I can't find the model #?

Posted by AlexM on 23 January 2013 - 08:54 PM

I got the model# EORS136SCH (it was were you said, on the left side).  So the oven, convection, bake actually work, I didn't realize you need to press start before 5 seconds or it will shut off.

The display panel still has wierd readings, nothing that makes sense, like F1 or anything like that.  I pulled up the service manual and didn't seem to find this excact model number, so I got a little spooked regarding testing.  I couln't get the main mother board to look like the mother board in the manual?

I'm thinking this is the touch pad and control board? one or the other?  Thanks for any input you may have.

#246118 U-Line Ice Maker, Model# BI-2115, could use service manual

Posted by AlexM on 11 January 2013 - 05:35 PM

You are correct about the inexperience, I've been a general contractor the last 25 years and jumped into the appliance repair business with little to no training, not recommended.

I just opened up a IM6 kit and found a single valve but in most definately has a quick connect for the water line, not a threaded compression nut.  Is there some coupler to convert?

#246111 Jenn Air Gas Range, All (5) burners keep sparking after lite

Posted by AlexM on 11 January 2013 - 12:47 PM

I made it out to look at the issue, ran totally fine for me, The only thing I can figure is that someone cleaned it with too much water and fouled something, then it took a while for the water to evaporator?

the model# ended up being on the flip up tabs in the back, Model# JDR8895AAS, This Jenn-Air was apparently made by Maytag.

#245799 Garage Refrigerator - RFC these days, like -15 degrees in the A.M.

Posted by AlexM on 07 January 2013 - 10:48 PM

I've had a rash of calls for top freezers that appear not to work in peoples garage refrigerators.  Is there any links to good articles that I can forward these people that explain how refrigerators don't funtion that well in cold temps? Thanks in advance.

#244658 GE Top Load Washer WHRE5260E1WW , Hot Side Water Valve

Posted by AlexM on 22 December 2012 - 12:17 AM

Funny you should mention the 'flood-safe' hoses.  I swapped out the hot one with a regular stainless hose and now all is good, except two trips and a new valve that i didn't need to purchase.  Man, learning hurts sometimes.

Posted by AlexM on 18 December 2012 - 04:58 PM

This Thermador down draft vent stalls or studers on the way down. Model# CV2236.  It is connected to a gas cook top Model# CV2136.  Do i want to take this call?  I can only imagine that its pretty difficult to get this thing out of the cabinet/counter top?  Would anybody have a manual or installation instructions? Thanks.
