Does it drain all the water out? Remove the lower panel and unscrew the filter from the pump and remove any debris in it. *Caution have towels and bucket ready water will come pouring out* reinstall filter and try again, washer will not go into high spin unless all the water is drained out.

Check the openings inside the dryer in front of the lint screen to make sure they are all open. If you use dryer sheets you may have to soak the lint screen in hot soapy water to loosen the "invisible wax" that will build up on it preventing air flow. Next check your exhaust vent from behind the dryer all the way to the outside of the house and remove any buildup.

The added air will cause the flame to crazy things. Sounds like you got it fixed.

Just a thought, are you testing the dryer with the front panel removed? if so the flame may be floating and tripping the safety thermostat...
