This dishwasher is so old, I remember that model. The drain plunger can be manually pulled down anytime the motor is running.

Should hear a pretty good thud if there is pump pressure.

The collection box under the plunger is where most debris collected.

... why the reducing Valve ?
from the Maytag DishWasher installation manual:
Water Supply Requirements
■ A hot water line with 20-120 psi water pressure.

20 psi min will not let enough water in.sounds good but will not work

Reducing valve was on the whole house system, I guess the plumber needed more billables.
Not really needed, system had a 70 psi static pressure, a little high but not hammering.

The sump on this stainless steel tub dishwasheris very shallowand a very slight tilt forward allowed pump to dry sump.

Here is the real rub.
Extended warranty company paying bill, but not this one because there was nothing wrong with dishwasher.

Kitchen installer installed d/w incorrectly and plumber compounded the issue.

I will send a bill, but it will never get paid.

4 trips 5 hours total time invested,,zero revenue

Sometime this job just sucks
