Frigidaire FGHB2869LF3 - icemaker evap drain leak

09 October 2014 - 06:20 AM

Monday I worked on a  french door Frigidaire FGHB2869LF3 with the fresh food section icemaker.  The complaint was fresh food section not cooling.  What I found was ice in the  bottom of the fresh food section and in the air ducts, down into the freezer around the evap.  I found a trickle of water coming down from the fresh food icemaker evap drain.  The drain cover was not sitting flush against the wall and so water was dripping out.  The drain is not clogged.

I got the cover to sit flush and I was able to stop the water from trickling out.  Defrosted the ice.

Today she called back, water under the fresh food drawers again.  I'm going back this morning.

Any ideas?  Am I missing something?

GE oven JTP56SD1SS. F0/F7

26 August 2014 - 06:25 AM

GE oven JTP56SD1SS.

Approx one month ago a customer was experiencing F0 and F7.  As per mini manual, I disconnected ribbon cable, and the fault code still occurred, so I replaced the control.  Now, about 2 weeks later, customer calls back with the same complaint (before replacing the control F0/F7 came up multiple times per day, this time it was good until today).

Is this a keypad issue now, or a defective control, or something else entirely? How is it possible to set the code with the ribbon cable disconnected if there is no problem with the control?

Baseboard Maid O Mist auto vent replacement

14 August 2014 - 06:30 AM

I'm remodeling my kitchen and in the attic above the kitchen, on the baseboard pipes (which run through the attic to the bedrooms) is a Maid-O-Mist No. 66 Auto Vent (see images below, linked to Dropbox). It is clearly in need of replacement and I'd like to replace it now that I have easy access.  I think it's on the supply line, it's on the pipe that runs off the circulation pump.

The boiler has it's own pressure relief valve (and the boiler will be replaced this spring).

My question is is this the correct placement of this vent and is this the correct type of vent? Just about everything in this house was done incorrectly so I thought I'd check on this before I just swap it out.

Should I move it to a more accessible loaction? This loaction will be very difficult to access once the ceiling is back up.

And is there any thing I need to do with this vent once it's replaced (I'm also replacing a section of baseboard in this zone) such as purge air?  Or does it do this automatically?

Thanks
