#277526 Maytag dryer power fail alarm

Posted by tgafford on 13 December 2013 - 04:26 PM

9 year old MDG7500AWW halts after hitting start, displays message 'power fail'. I found the electrolytic cap for the lower voltage DC supply somewhat bulged so I measured the AC and DC voltages. With 120v line the AC out of the transformer was 8.7 and the capacitor voltage was 8.1, should have been 10 or so. I replaced caps for both supplies, washer no longer senses power fail at motor start and works fine. $5 fix for $500 control board. 3300 uF at 16V and 1000 uF at 50V.
