In Topic: Whirlpool Duet front load washer tub is cocked or sagging

i called whirlpool today and they will send out someone and said the basket and tub both can be replaced under warranty if that is what the AE factory service guy deems the problem is. Thanks everyone for your advice and responses. Spannerwrench, your are correct I will have to pay the service call which will still be cheaper than a new unit.

We only used HE and not much of it. We did however used the liduid HE for up until last year and swapped over to the powder. We had heard the powder would reduce the "moldy" smell. One other thing, I am going to call whirlpool monday and Lowes as well. i had a 4 yr extended warranty with them that expired on 6-13-2013 and the washer broke on 6-24-13. I called the 24 hr line for warrant service and they are going to have a manager from the warranty dept. call me monday. I am going to see if they will do anything since the spider arm corrosion occurred well before 6-24 when the arm finally give out.

Thanks, I subscribed. I am just very hesitant to go back with a front loader. When i first begin trying to find my issue searching the Internet, the bearings going out and or the spider arm corroding and breaking looks like a huge issue. Is this precisely with the Whirlpool designs or is this what comes with all front loaders? I just don't want to be buying or replacing the tub every 5 yrs.

If I can't get them to cover this and have to start looking for a new one do you have any suggestions? Are there certain ones you wouldn't buy because you see them all the time for repairs. Or would you not even suggest a front loader. Thanks for all your info and help thus far spannerwrench

Okay. I was going through my owners manual and in the warranty page it only has a 1yr warranty. There is no where in it that says the stainless basket or tub are under warranty any longer than that. I had read a few places online where the tub had a lifetime and the tub 10 yrs. if that is the case and the spider arm is part of the stainless basket then seems like more people would be getting them replaced under warranty but not finding that to be the case. I am going to call Monday and see what happens.
