The pump makes a beautiful wooshing sound as it pumps super large loads of wash!  Thank you Grand Master, you have saved us!  The most fun I've had doing a load of laundry in so long.  I stood there listening to the glorious sounds of everything functioning and just feeling like the champion of the world.  Hee.

Thank you, I have ordered a pump and we'll see if that fixes the problem.

We removed and checked both hoses.  The debris from the pump was mostly sand, but there were some larger chunks of dirt-type stuff too.  The model is whdsr209d6ww GE washer.  Funny thing today, we ran a load on medium load size and it worked.  Now, I keep asking myself, "why won't it work properly on a large load?"  It does everything fine except the draining part.  It will even spin a large load, but only after the water has been manually drained.  Could this be a timer control issue?  It has gotten progressively louder over time.
