Defrost control troubleshooting

21 August 2013 - 09:48 AM

We have a French door bottom mount Whirlpool fridge with freezer frost build up problem.

In your very helpful post titled...

How to test and replace the ADC "Jazz" circuit board in Maytag and Amana refrigerators

...you diagnose a failed ADC by using the Forced Defrost mode.  My defrost heater element functions fine in FD mode and the compressor shuts off also.  Both thermisters pass the built in test and the defrost terminator behaves properly after manual defrost (Open) and during operation (Shorted).  Can the board fail in such a way that FD operates but self initiated defrost does not?

Thanks,

Matt
