GE Profile Microwave light, fan on

21 September 2013 - 12:20 PM

The light and fan on our GE Profile microwave (model PNM1871SM1SS) now stays on constantly, with the door closed. The fan shuts off with the door open. The microwave doesn't heat unless you press one of the cook buttons. I've done some searching on various websites/forums and think it may be a door switch. There are three switches, one at the top latch (I'll call A) and two at the bottom latch (I'll call B and C). I've tested all three for continuity and the A and C have continuity with the door closed, but B doesn't with the door closed. The opposite continuity results are obtained with the door opened. Does this appear right? I didn't remove the switches when testing. Should I have done this? Should I be looking at other components?
