Amana ARS2665AW PARS2665AW0 freezer not cold enough, fridge side fine

28 September 2013 - 02:45 PM

Our Amana side-by-side fridge isn't getting cold enough on the freezer side.  It's at about 25 degrees at the maximum setting, which leaves the ice cream very soft.  The refrigerator side is fine -- maybe just a few degrees warmer than it should be, but we don't have the adjustment set to maximum.  We've vacuumed and blown out the dust on the coils underneath the fridge.  I haven't tried opening the back cover inside the freezer yet because we have a fair amount of food in there, and would like to avoid doing that until we have to.  I've monitored the red knob on the defrost timer that's behind the grille at the bottom front of the fridge (on the left side), and it does seem to be advancing slowly.  Does this sound like a defrost thermostat failure?  If so, what's the part number for that on our Amana  ARS2665AW PARS2665AW0 ?  Thanks!
