Stinky, smelly washing machine? This is almost always a detergent problem!

It's funny how people will plunk down big $$ for these high efficiency (HE) washing machines and then try to save pennies by using cheap detergent. I've written about the follies of the Great Unwashed here. Now, to help put an even finer point on it, Brother John63 delivers today's guest sermon on detergents in today's HE washing machines: Source: Bosch Washer. Mold on door seal If your washing machine is already stunk up because of your detergent illiteracy, I have some de-stinkifying remedie

Affirmations for Effective Appliance Repair

Running an appliance repair bidness is hard work and can be pretty demoralizing at times. I've collected these affirmations over the 20 years of running my appliance repair bidness to keep me focused and top of my game. They've been a tremendous source of inspiration and spiritual strength for me and I'm sharing them with you in the hopes that you will benefit, too. Peace, love, and harmony, yo. ● As I let go of my shoulds and feelings of guilt, I can get in touch with my Inner Sociopath.

Samurai Appliance Repair Man's Hard-Earned Pearls of Life-Wisdom

I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope they panic and give in. I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just jerks. I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and only suspicion, not proof, to destroy it. I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others - they are more messed up than you think. I've learned that you can keep puking long after you think you're finished. I've learned that we are responsi

These are the good ol' Maytag dryers, one of the best designs ever made. They're not making this design anymore. If you have this dryer, it's definitely worth fixing and keeping. If it starts sounding like this... <embed width="600" height="361" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullscreen="true" allowNetworking="all" wmode="transparent" src="http://static.photobucket.com/player.swf" flashvars="file=http%3A%2F%2Fvid160.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Ft200%2FZenzoidman%2FVideos%2Fmaytag

John Guest fittings

John who? John Guest fittings are those magical fittings that connect plastic tubing in refrigerators and icemakers. Musical Tools

We appliance techs love tools. For some of us, this love is so deep and so profound that it moves them to song. DurhamAppliance is one such tech. Let's listen to the music of tools gushing from his heart... Source: US Pro Tools

Countdown to Takeoff

Today's zie big day: the pilgrimage to Mount Athos, the Holy Mountain, in Greece. It all starts with a two hour bus ride to Boston Logan airport. After clearing the TSA anal cavity check, we'll have a seven hour, bone crushing flight to Zurich where we'll enjoy a five hour wait for our connecting flight. Mmm, five hours hanging around a stinking airport with blaring loud speakers and and constant threats of more body cavity violation. Jealous yet? From there, we'll take another five hour fl

Blizzard!

Got a bonafide blizzard going on here! Finally some decent snow to go with the cold. We're supposed to get a foot and half of the white stuff. Cold weather without snow is just depressing. I'll post some winter wonderland pics tomorrow. Meanwhile, making final preps for the trip to Greece. We leave Wednesday.
