Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors and false alarms

If you are looking for CO because of a CO alarm complaint, and cannot find the source, check for sump pump battery backup systems, or even golfcart chargers etc, any lead acid battery that is charging can release hydrogen sulfide (H2S), that can fool the average CO detector.

You also need to read the instruction that come with your CO detector. Proper placement is critical to avoid false alarms and to properly protect the family. I know it's not manly, but this is a time to read and follow the directions. Plus, what's more manly than protecting your family?
