It's a very real possibility that the keypad is shorting out at random times which would explain your issues getting into diagnostics. The tech sheet part number is W10142800 and is available in Google docs from the search bar. Look at the section for Checking Keypad Operation.

The ice maker had been working normally for a long time but recently stopped making ice. I changed the filter, even though the "FILTER" change notice wasn't displayed it seemed like it had been a while. Still no ice. I reset the unit to factory defaults per the manual, still no ice. Randomly I was near it when I heard an unfamiliar buzzing noise which sounded like an electric motor trying to turn but failing. This sort of reminded me of the noise the ice maker makes when it's dropping ice into the holding basket but as if it was under duress. So, I feel it may be 'jammed'. What could be done to troubleshoot this further? Could a cube be jammed somehow to prevent the ice maker from rotating and dropped ice? I thought of taking a heat gun and trying to thaw the unit out while it's still installed (take out the top freezer tray and hold the gun on it for awhile...basically a high-temp hair dryer), or, perhaps better to remove it and thaw it out of the unit to see if it's just stuck/frozen (maybe something would be obvious upon inspection). However, I can't find any service manuals anywhere online for it so I'm hesitant to just start taking the torx screws out...

my maytag dishwasher starts its cycle and stops at various points in its cycle. I know it's not full of gunk because it does clean when the cycle completes fully. I've read up on diagnostic mode but haven't found anything that helps me definitively. alternating between high temp wash / heated dry doesn't do anything but make the high temp washlight blink several times after I hit that the fifth time. How do I get this to display diagnostics? I've also given thought to the latch switch being worn and not registering. However it does seem to always start when I set the mode and close the door, and when I've had a bad switch, that was flaky and the unit would not always start its cycle.
