    Ok. Thanks to you all.

  4. my view on 3 in 1 are they are a bandaid to keep weak starting compressors running for awhile. Some versions do not have provision for run capacitor and can shorten life of healthy compressor. They can also burn out traces on printed circuit board due to increased start amps.
  5. I have bought a Commercial Speed Queen washing machine and I am in need of some help. This commercial washer is manufactured my Alliance Laundry Systems. It is an HE or high efficiency machine. This machine will not fill with hot water for more than 60 seconds then it switches to cold water. I have read and researched everywhere and found out that apparently it’s supposed to do this due to the he design. However, my water heater is so far away from the laundry room that it barely puts any hot water in the tub. Also, the normal cycle time is very short. It will only agitate for about 15 minutes before pumping out and doing its spin rinse cycle then spin and shut down. There is not a longer or heavy duty cycle to select on this machine. I am a rather tech savvy person and I took the control panel apart to look inside. There is one small control board inside. It has a part number on it of 202320. It is manufactured by matrix it is an MTX-M2 board part E196960. There are 8 dip switches on it for configuration. I have searched and searched to try and find out what they do or what they can do. All I can find is what the first two switches do in a operation manual from alliance and they do nothing programming wise. I need some insider help here. If anyone can help please please help! Thank you in advance for anything you can come up with. Mike

One more question. The experienced appliance guy said the 3 n 1 arco410 was likely the culprit in grounding out the compressor. I dont know who put that in, but I understand now that it's not original. Any truth to the 3n 1 shorting out the compressor?

See if this helps... pin positions may vary, but you get the gist. And yes, if you're getting a reading from any of the pins to a ground then the compressor is toast.

I see, so that being the case, testing to ground wire is a third test and its result in continuity means the compressor is shot. Right?
  13. Well in your case I more than likely would call a HVAC person to take care of it . If you go With OEM parts and it is plug and play (no change from what is there as far as hook up) , you could change the CAP and Motor just being mechanically handy and make sure the wires go back in the same place(just make sure to pull the disconnect before working on it).

AC fan stops after 15 minutes

Sounds like the bearings? " Makes loud noise " Can you oil them? Some of the old ones you could. Sewing machine oil may get you going for a little while. Dribble it on in the hole and work the fan blade till it spins free ( if it's one you can oil. (If indeed that's the case) Window ACs done got cheap. If it's the motor bearings and you can afford to buy a new one go for it. Unless you want to fight rust and stuck motor shafts to fan blades...Sounds like your up the creek not knowing how to use and read a meter. All the best.

Testing the continuity of the compressor pins to the case indicate whether the urethane coating on the compressor windings is shot and leaking power to ground by way of the case.

Ok Tech 7. Thanks for comfirming the advice from the appliance tech. Earlier I had asked about testing the points against the casing. Any point in doing that test or is the testing against the ground the next step to determine the compressor functionality?
  24. Yes the compressor would be defective.
  25. Grasshoppah 1 post 0 Kendo Points Posted just now New to this site however have an issue similar to one I saw as I am looking for some direction. AC unit (old) has been running fine until couple days ago. Its comes on, may run for 15-20 minutes then fan stops & unit makes loud noise. Its hot. SO the unit is on, the fan is not spinning. In looking at the posts it seems like folks are being pointed in direction of capacitor or fan motor. I am semi handy-don't have an ohm meter (couldn't read it if I did) however some of these comments about the electrical are scary. Any suggestions?

Ok further to this.. if I test resistance between any one of the points and the ground wire, there is a reading. According to an appliance guy that came by , that alone indicates that compressor is grounded and therefore fried.
  28. Need service manual for this turd of a fridge. Thanks!
