  1. I have a PGSS5PJXC GE refrigerator that is having cooling issues. The fridge temperature is suppose to be at 37 degrees and is holding around 39 degrees. The freezer is suppose to be at 0 degrees but it's at 24-28 degrees. I have replaced the inverter last year and it worked fine, thanks to you guys! I first did a visual inspection of the main boards (mother board) front and back and everything look fine. I then checked voltages to and from the board. I have checked the voltage for it at the J15 plug of the main board and it was fine. Also checked voltages from the J2 plug for the condenser fan, evaporator fan, fresh food fan, supply voltage and they all read normal. I checked the thermisters off of J1 and they all seem to be within operating ranges. There was one thermister that read only 4.4kohms off of pin 5 and 2 off the J1 but found out is was a thermister that resides under the fridge towards towards front near the grill base cover. Although the freezer thermister (pins 5 and ) read 17.7ohms at a temperature of 35 degrees. Another one being the fresh food thermister at pins 5 and 1 read 15.5 ohms while the thermister was placed in a cup of ice water which temperature read 15.9 ohms while being placed in a cup of ice water which read 33 degrees. So now I don't know what to do. I feel cold air coming thru the vents in the fridge and freezer. I guess the only thing I can do is to remove the back wall cover to expose the check the freezer coils. I should check for a light frosting on them and put that thermister in ice water and recheck the ohms on that. However, when I checked that thermister before it read 15.2ohms at 32 degrees. I am sort of desperate here so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And whatever parts I order from you guys can you tell me if I am able to return them if that wasn't the issue? Thanks in advance for your help. You guys are my last hope. I am disabled and a vet and can not afford a technician.
  2. The freezer hasn't been able to freeze ice cubes for a year, but now it's not very cold at all, and the refrigerator itself seems to be getting less cool, too. I cleaned out the freezer and noticed that in the right back corner of the freezer, a block of ice has formed. I'd love any help I can get on how to troubleshoot this problem.

  7. I noticed my ge refrigerator wasn't cooling properly so being the diy er I am I decided to look up what it could be and aw something about frost on the back wall of the freezer so i took it apart and low and behold there was frost built up I purchased the right heater element and the defrost terminator and waited about a day and there's no more frost but the freezer is still hovering at 45 and the fridge 68 to 75... Its killing me and I'm not sure what the heck to do!! All the fans and the compressor is working so i'm just so confused and really need some help please! Thanks in advance!!
  8. I need a PTC start relay for an Avanti CF164 Chest Freezer. I have Avanti's parts list for the CF164 model but the p/n for the PTC is blank! I pulled the PTC off of the side of the compressor. It's a three-pin device. The part number is not printed on the thing. It does have "QP2-4.7" silk-screened on the side. I've googled what little bit of information I have for this thing, but as of yet I can find no convincingly matching part. Additionally, there's a largish white cylinder mounted to the frame of the freezer, and a white wire connects between it and the PTC. At first glance, I presume this is a start/stop capacitor, but again, the parts list for the CF164 model is no help. Besides, I though the start/stop capacitor for these sort of appliances is built into the compressor; as in, isn't the start/stop capacitor the thing the PTC plugs directly onto (two prongs sticking out of the compressor)? Any part number suggestions for a compatible PTC start relay (and start/stop capacitor) that'll work reliably within an Avanti CF164 chest freezer? Hurry! ...the ice cream is melting!
  9. Hello folks. Having some problems that I thought I had solved last week, but yesterday they reared up again. Allow me to give the full back story - about two weeks ago, my LG LMX25981ST refrigerator began to make this click sound every few minutes, and eventually we noticed that the compartments were warm and the ice dispenser was leaking water (ice was melting because of the warm compartment temps). After some googling and youtube watching, I determined that the clicking was a sign of a bad compressor start relay. I pulled the start relay off of my fridge and looked for the replacement part on AppliancePartsPros. The replacement part on there did not resemble the part I pulled off my fridge, so I emailed them and they told me there are several different specific versions of my model fridge, and they needed my serial # to determine the specific part my fridge needed. Eventually the APP guy emailed me with a replacement start relay that looked like the part I pulled off my fridge. Ordered, received within a day, installed, fridge seemed to be working normally again. Measured temps with a digital thermometer & all good. Within a day or two, I started noticing that despite the fridge & freezer seeming to work correctly, there was some kind of growling noise for maybe 3-6 seconds every time I'd close the fridge doors before the compressor or fans (not sure?) would kick on. Might have happened after closing the freezer doors as well but I am not sure. I can say for sure though that the growling noise happened every time after closing the fridge doors, and afterward it sounded normal - steady quiet hum. Anyway, thought this was peculiar & tried a little to diagnose it but couldn't determine a specific issue. Otherwise the fridge was working so I let it go. Fast forward to yesterday and suddenly the freezer nor fridge are cooling anymore. Temps are in the 50s in both compartments. There is no clicking this time so I think the replacement start relay I got is probably fine (unless it caused the aforementioned growling) and maybe there is another problem. I believe the fans are still attempting to push cold(ish) air into the compartments because when I open the doors and manually press the door switches, there seems to be some air moving in from the back of each compartment. I can't fully go through the refrigerator warm flowchart right now because I am not sure I can move the fridge by myself to access the back panel & check on the condenser/condenser fan etc. I will confirm my path on the flowchart within a couple days when I can get help moving the fridge. But if anyone has any early ideas based on what I've said so far as to why my fridge is warm, I'd really appreciate any and all advice. Thanks all! Let me know if I can provide any other info and I'll try to produce it.
  10. Can anyone shed some expert light on my problem of a Panasonic Refrigerator Freezer please ? Its Model NR-B30FX1 (Same as a NR-B30FW1/FG1) an Inverter. I have started to pull what little hair I have left on my head trying to fix it and its probably something easy and I can afford to purchase a part to fit it myself :-) The description is a bit long but want to provide as much info as possible. The unit is just over 5 years old and has worked perfectly but was working harder, little more noise from the compressor/unit and then one morning the low temp alarm was sounding and no cooling was occurring. The power is on, all lights on the Refrigerator working when doors opened, front Control/Temp set Display is working but showing lowest default temp for Freezer/ Refrigerator /Vegetable compartments. There is no frost or icing in the freezer (FC) compartment, and the three phase DC inverter compressor and VC Freezer Fan is not running in normal mode. I have stood up the Refrigerator for a few days and let it dry out, but to no avail no difference powering it back on. This Refrigerator has a front display panel for temp setting and fast freezer etc, which attaches to Man PCB with the micro computer, and has a separate Inverter board which supplies power to the compressor and the Main PCB. In a nutshell I need some advice on how to fault the inverter board and compressor, and how to detect a IPM start signal is being sent to the inverter board from the Main PCB, the proving of the output voltage/frequency/ and finally prove compressor not faulty/locked up please ? I have watched a good video on here for faulting an inverter Refrigerator but it had a dedicated inverter board with J15 two wire control link, where mine has a major inverter board. but it did allow me to prove the windings were okay on the inverter and to understand an inverter Refrigerator . Main PCB I have checked all voltages, and relays are okay for VCC heater and Defrost heater. Don't know ho to tell its telling the inverter board to switch on though. I am handy with a multimeter and basic electronics, so have downloaded the service manual and tried the Test Control checks;- Compulsion FC start - s/c Test Terminal 1 & 3, starts both Refrigerator (PC) Fan and Freezer (FC) Fans. the s/c Test 0 (Zero) Point and Gnd does not start the Compressor but the 'C' indication comes on the front panel. There are other Test points on both PCB but do not have any info for what they do, and the self diagnostic function on the front display module is just blank (dash/dash). Compressor I have measured the compressor windings on Con703, and all appear good at 6.9 Ohms, and meggered them to Eth and no issues. The protector is fine. I have on my multimeter with a KHz frequency setting but only see a brief flash of KHz on each terminal of three W,U &V), and flash of voltage, not enough to prove consistency. Sensors/Thermisters Checked resistance of all sensors for resistance out of cct and in cct, the voltages look good. I can't find the ATC Sensor on the wiring and schematic diagram, which is used to determine difference between other sensors and ambient temp I think, so this could be faulty but unable to test it? Inverter Board/ I have checked all voltages, and the Bridge rectifier working, but the Intelligent Power Module (IPM700) SLA6805M, is cold or the heat sink is anyway. So don't know to test the control signal into it to prove its being told to switch on and prove the output voltages ?? Help Please ?? Power on Start up Sequence Both Fans operate on power up, 3 way valve makes a noise, damper step motor does a cycle, but no noise on the compressor, and a blip of voltage/frequency on the outputs from inverter board to Compressor (terms W, V and U) I can't find a full component cct diagram of the PCB boards or much on proving the inverter complicated cct. There is a data sheet on the IPM but looks complex. But now basically stuck.
