  4. I have a Frigidaire side by side fridge, model# FGHC2342LF3. The ice maker doesn't dispense ice lately. The chute door opens but the auger doesn't turn or dispense ice. Happens with both cubed and crushed. If you press the water button and then the ice button, back and forth between the two, sometimes it will dispense, but it usually does not. Continuity has been checked on the motor and when the auger turns it does get power. Ideas? Thank you Claudia

  9. Hi I'm hoping someone can help. I have a 20 year old sub zero side by side. Recently the ice maker starting frosting over. Historically this ice maker has been finicky, if the door is held open searching for that last ice pop, a little melting causes clogs. However, mortally stays clean. Lately it has been frosting over very fast- I clean it all out, including the slide and flapper, dry it, then within 24 hours it is completely frosted over. I have never seen this before. I repeated the clean/replace process several times so it's not a fluke. any thoughts? Otherwise things are good- frozen food, cold settings are normal, no problems. I believe its a model 690...
  10. Hi. First time I've been to this site in a few years and things have changed. I know I have asked this "hollow ice" question in the past, but I can't pull up my oldest posts. I would have posted in the Kitchen Appliance section, but that is now a technician only forum. Maybe my old posts are still buried in there? In any case... I have an Amana bottom freezer that has served us relatively well for about 20 years now. The ice maker has been replaced a few times. A fan a time or two, and some other things too. It has been producing hollow ice for a couple/few months now. A couple days ago I replaced the ice maker unit. When I was replacing it I noticed the fill tube had a partial plug of ice. It worked fine for the first few ice loads and I'm again back to hollow ice. Squeezing the fill tube indicates it once again has a partial ice plug. I think when this happened the last time I had to replace the part that controls the water flow into the ice maker. I'm here because I don't recall what part I replaced, and I'm also not 100% sure this is the problem. This site has been an amazing resource over the years. Cheers, Gary
  11. After repairing a frozen drain plug in the freezer of my Whirlpool Model ET1CHKXKB01, my ice maker 106-626636 will no longer fill with water UNLESS I by-pass by tripping holes V and L. Water will then come into the unit. So I have to assume this alleviates the potential that the insert value is frozen. I have checked the wiring harness and the ice maker is plugged in correctly as it rotates on it's own. I can also get it to work using by pass method on T & H. Question: If the water solenoid value is bad, would I be able to by-pass it using the V and L holes on the ice maker? Or since I do have water coming into the unit when I by-pass does it mean its not a bad water value and is something else? I'm fairly new at DIY projects and was so pleased when I was able to fix my frozen drain plus issue but now without an ice maker, well I'll just say it's not quote as gratifying. Thanks to anyone who can help.

MINE IS SO BRITTLE, IT'S FALLING APART. I'M GLUING IT BACK TOGETHER NOW, BUT IT'S LOOKING BAD. DO YOU HAVE ONE OR KNOW WHERE I CAN GET ONE. THANK YOU, STEVE ITEM #4 ON DIAGRAM https://www.searspartsdirect.com/model-number/25344503602/0583/0165000.html?searchType=modelSearch&q=253.44503602&searchTerm=253.44503602
  13. I have a 106 Kenmore coldspot frigde and my ice maker seems to be working fine except in that at the end of the cycle it has a problem with dispensing ice like the heating element did not work. I check contact in the back of the module and all looks fine in very good condition. I check the voltage of what seems to be responsible for that function mold heater and it showed sth close to 70ohms which I think is correct. Ice maker is in good condition but Ice get stuck, what could be the problem? How can I verify what is my problem?
  14. We purchased a Whirlpool WRF736SDAM unit back in late 2014. At around 18 months (6 months out of warranty,) the ice maker started acting up. All of the symptoms are the same, it is just longer periods of time between when the system will make some ice. Every week or two, the ice maker will make 3 to 5 trays (cycles) of ice. One it gets to a certain point (there has been no rhyme or reason as to how much it will produce each time,) the unit will stop making ice, and what is in the bin will start to melt. Then a few a week or two later, it will make a few trays of ice again. I ran the diagnostic tests with the following results: 15 - Ice Level Sensor = 02 - Bin Not Full 36 - Ice Box Fan = On & Off working Correctly, and air flow verified. 56 - Ice Maker Error Codes = E2 - Motor lost position 57 - Ice Maker Harvest 20 - Motor Running CW until it finds Home Position; In-Progress 02 - Heater and Motor Off; Harvesting Not complete, Doors must be open Doors are all closed (with apparently good seals) and you can hear some type of small motor running. 58 - Ice Maker Heat Activation & Thermistor = 10 - IM Heater On; Temp Warmer Than Harvest Temp 59 - Ice Maker Motor 10 - Motor Running CW until it finds Home Position; In-Progress 02 - Heater and Motor Off; Harvesting Not complete, Doors must be open Does this sound like a particular part (or combination of a few specific ones?) I wanted to get expert opinions before purchasing items one at a time until I find the right ones needed... At first I was thinking the motor, but I am still not convinced... Thank you for your time ! ! !
  15. I'm having trouble with my Icemaker it seem to fuction fine with the exception of it doesn't drop ice from the door. It make plenty of ice, the motor is running when you hold the glass under the door. but it doesn't drop ice. The control panel works fine selecting cubed or crushed or water the control panel works fine. I just don't known why it doesn't drop ice it sounds like it's trying to and you can hear this whining noise of the motor going round and round but no ice and the bucket if full.
  16. The last week or so we have noticed water is leaking from our ice maker somewhere causing the ice in the center of the bin to become a solid chunk & immobilizing the spiral drive thing that pushes the ice forward. I tried to pull the bin forward/out to investigate, but it is stuck. I can lift the front of the bin, and wiggle it (violently), but it wont come out so I can see where the water is coming from. I even tried a hair dryer, and shouting like a lunatic "GIMME the damn ICE you STUPID ____.!" Of course that didn't help. Can someone Pretty Please tell me the secret knock, code word, or what on earth is keeping the bin stuck!? Of course then I still need to find the source of the drip, but I'd feel more confident with at least this much of the battle won. Thanks in advance.

  21. Hello My ice maker quit working a few days ago and I have been searching the internet to find a solution. After several tries, I found your video on inserting a jumper wire into the ice maker to see if it works, and it did! Now, I am not sure what to do next. I should say that there were frozen cubes in the tray when I inserted the jumper, so I am getting water to the tray, so that is good. I just don't know why the maker would not eject the cubes. I am guessing I cannot leave the jumper wire in the side of the unit, but I am stumped as to what to do next. The number on the ice maker is w10272870. Thanks for your help so far, I love the video!
  22. Kitchen aid KSRG25 Stainless Side by Side Ice Maker will not make ice. I have read lots of stuff online and when I open the door the LED light blinks twice and stops. If I close the flap on the opposite side of the LED light it still blinks and does not stay lit, nor does it go off. Any further help trying to figure out what's going on would be appreciated.
