  1. Yesterday after watching the Samurai Repairman’s video on hot refrigerator door gaskets, I checked to see if the condenser fan on my fridge was working. It was not, but after I nudged it with a wooden spoon handle, it took off spinning. Today the gaskets were hot again, so I checked: The fan was not running. It started up readily with a nudge, but I’m wondering: 1) Is the fan meant to run constantly? 2) If it is not, what are the possible causes for the fan not starting back up when it’s supposed to be running? 3) Is this a case for the “unusual fix” mentioned in the above video, or is there another, more conventional solution?
  2. Starting a week or so ago occasionally herd a fan 'cycle'...run for 2-3 seconds, then spin down and immediately back up. As of today it's doing it constantly. I have cleaned out the condenser coils and verified that its the condenser fan making the noise, I have run the diagnostic test #49 as mentioned in another post and it cycles at around 1700-1750, but it will dip to +/- 0, 420, 1200 mostly it stays in the 1700 range. I believe it to be the circuit board as the main problem and possibly the fan, but it does spin based on the reading on this site and others. I plan on replacing the circuit board and fan at the same time. If my logic is off please let me know. When replacing the circuit board, is it just a plug in and replace or is there any type of setup/programing that needs to happen Any help or insight would be greatly appreaciated Mike
  3. 15yr old ge profile refrigerator. Noticed freezer contents like ice cream softer than usual suddenly. Condenser fan appears to be running slower than I would expect to keep it cool. Metered voltage at J2 T3&5 is 4.35 which I understand should be in the 12/8/4v range depending on if it is a variable voltage compressor which I believe it is based on what I think is the invertor to the compressor. J2 Pin 3&8 give 13.38v within the 12-14 proper range. Placed a fan behind which seems to help get it cooler inside. Temperature in freezer doesn't seem to want to get below 5F with fridge at 38F. Not sure if the fan is supposed to run at 2 speeds but it doesn't seem to change. The resisters on the Main board don't appear to be burned.
