  1. Maybe someone can help before I drop big dollars on a new refrigerator, and/or my Wife kills me in my sleep Many moons ago I got information from the Samurai Appliance Man that my defroster was to blame for a different problem, they sent the parts and bang, back in service! I am hoping for a similar result. Model: GE Profile Artica PSS25MGNA WW Ser# AF 402267 Issue: Refrigerator too cold, frost in Freezer starting - this just started a few weeks back Testing: * Initial Temp Reading (Refrigerator on 1 Freezer on 2) was temp was 32 in the Refrigerator ( I was expecting 38-42 but that wasn't the case ) * Lowered settings (Refrigerator 1 Freezer 1) and the Refrigerator Side climbed to 36 - Food starting melting in the Freezer albeit slowly * Raised Freezer back to 2, Refrigerator at 1 and the Refrigerator dipped to 28 - the Freezer showed 9 degrees I was unable to access the Diagnostic Mode I have cleaned the coils, vents, checked door seals, taken temp readings etc - THOUGHTS? I am thinking a stuck damper at this point, but how to troubleshoot? Help me Samurai Von Kenmore, you are my only hope! Boston Mike
  2. My whirlpool side by side fridge Model number GI5FSAXVY00 stops cooling ( both main section and freezer ). It automatically starts working without any intervention, its happened twice already. When this happens, the fridge is powered on. I can hear the fan running and all the lights are on. I hear a frequent clicking sound (like a thermostat) near the bottom of the fridge. I had hired a technician to look at this issue but unfortunately the fridge started to work automatically (after 36 hours of being warm) when he was around. He checked the compressor and mentioned it was a bit hot, there was no freon leak. He couldn't check anything else and left. After around 8 hours I see the same problem, temperature is going up.
  3. GE Monogram SxS Side-by-side fridge zfsb23drbss PHOTOS: https://photos.app.goo.gl/NWvvFw157aSd8ZyQ9 Datasheet is in the photos. And Yes, I know the high / low side are swapped. All temps in Fahrenheit, Ambient 60F, 6.5oz of R134a Ok, so started kitchen remodel, wanted new fridge, fell in love with Monogram from 2005. Craigslist had one that didn't cool properly, and guy ended up giving it to me for free. So began with 25F Freezer, 45F Fridge, only 6” of frost on freezer evaporater at cap tube outlet. After removing compressor, changing POE oil, replacing filter-drier, testing 3-way valve, leak-testing / flushing with nitrogen @100PSI, and evacuating / charging, I got a cooling fridge. Current Problem: Low side in 10inHG of vacuum, should be 0-5PSIG. High side 70PSIG, normal. 1) Fridge seems to work correctly, frost on 80% of FZ evaporator, gets to normal temps 0F/37F within 6 hours. 2) Low side (read at process stub) in 10inHG of vacuum, spec calls for 0-5PSIG 3) Equalizes within 5 minutes to ~22PSI @60F, datasheet calls for minimum 40PSIG @ 70F, 4) Inverter 3-speed Compressor current is 20% lower than datasheet: 54W measured, vs datasheet 65W (Low speed). 5) Condenser is barely warm to the touch +5F of ambient, possibly because of 60F Ambient? What I gather from this, is that there is a low-side restriction, possibly in the cap-tube, or evaporator(s). So should I: A) Leave it alone, and hope it runs for a long time – is the low-side vacuum going to impact the compressor / system life? or B ) Investigate further and only quit when I get low-side pressure that is within 0-5 PSIG spec? Your feedback is very valuable, I have 2 weeks into this learning experience, and would like to enjoy the fridge already.
