  1. Maybe someone can help before I drop big dollars on a new refrigerator, and/or my Wife kills me in my sleep Many moons ago I got information from the Samurai Appliance Man that my defroster was to blame for a different problem, they sent the parts and bang, back in service! I am hoping for a similar result. Model: GE Profile Artica PSS25MGNA WW Ser# AF 402267 Issue: Refrigerator too cold, frost in Freezer starting - this just started a few weeks back Testing: * Initial Temp Reading (Refrigerator on 1 Freezer on 2) was temp was 32 in the Refrigerator ( I was expecting 38-42 but that wasn't the case ) * Lowered settings (Refrigerator 1 Freezer 1) and the Refrigerator Side climbed to 36 - Food starting melting in the Freezer albeit slowly * Raised Freezer back to 2, Refrigerator at 1 and the Refrigerator dipped to 28 - the Freezer showed 9 degrees I was unable to access the Diagnostic Mode I have cleaned the coils, vents, checked door seals, taken temp readings etc - THOUGHTS? I am thinking a stuck damper at this point, but how to troubleshoot? Help me Samurai Von Kenmore, you are my only hope! Boston Mike
  2. Model#WFE710H0AS oven heats to temp, and control shows correct but stops heating. heard an odd whirring noise a week ago, and though I saw small flame in oven. Threw breaker. Some smoke but no electric smell - couldn't determine what it was. Thought scrap parchment paper perhaps. Started again and Oven worked normal til yesterday used daily. have reset and still doing it. Suggestions oh wise ones? thankful humble apprentice since 2010 that foolishly lost login after last honorable repair celebration
  3. I bought a used GE Profile Refrigerator Side by Side from an appliance store last week. I hooked it up and it took probably a good 24hrs before it got down to temp (maybe a little longer). But, since then, it has continued to fluctuate up and down, never consistently holding a temperature. My settings are -1 and 35 degrees F for the freezer and refrigerator respectively. My freezer will go from -1 all the way up to 7 at some points (usually will hold around 4 for the longest I've noticed) and the refrigerator will go from 36 to 42 (usually will hold around 40-41 for the longest). Not sure what the heck these are symptoms of. My food seems ok and I haven't been able to see how ice handles in the freezer yet because the geniuses at GE decided to make their water line hookup 5/16 which isn't exactly a standard size. ANY help on what it might be or personal testimonies of what people have done will help. Refrigerator troubleshooting is not my strong suit. Thank you in advance!!!
  4. Hi I have a 27cu ft Whirlpool GI7FVCXWA00 that is about 7 years old. This is one of those units where the compressor winds up and can sound like the turbo on a semi truck... when operating properly. The freezer is cooling fine. However, the fridge is only cooling to 55 degrees in spite of being set to 37. I also don't observe hearing the compressor winding up like it used to (the compressor noise is something owners frequently complain about on this model so it is an obvious sound that the fridge makes under normal operation). Setting the fridge temp lower does not seem to help much. I ran the diags on the compressor, fans and thermostats and all check out. Based on what I know of how most refirgerators work - that is a fan circulates air from the freezer box to the fridge compartment to achieve the desired temp - I suspect that the passage between freezer and fridge is blocked but don't know where either the damper or the passage are located on this unit. is that the likely cause? If so where are the cooling ducts located?

    Oven Sensor Temperature Resistance Table

From the album: Ovens, Ranges, Stoves

Use this table to test the sensor in your oven. You need at least two and preferably three resistance measurements at different temperatures to determine if a sensor is good or not. Check the sensor resistance at room temperature only is not sufficient to conclusively prove that the sensor is good because it may have a non-linear response at higher temperatures.
