GlitchDrive (Xdrive) Update

Samurai Appliance Repair Man

Recommended Posts

Finally got the new motherboard, processor and ram for the Intel replacement of the Opteron system. I just want to say that the Opteron is a great processor. Its platforms are a genuine crapshoot though. I had nothing but problems with the Nvidia based chipset motherboard. Parallel port did not work, one of the PCI slots did not work, and had nothing but trouble with errors, BSOD, memory slots, etc.

So I got this Intel replacement and as soon as I got the drivers installed it was all ready. Didnt even need to reformat, though I will this weekend just to change the HAL to reflect the hyperthreaded CPU.

Anyway to make a long story short, I went back to Xdrive and selected a zip of all the washer and dryer stuffs you have there. 300+ MB file. Before I could not get more than about a 2MB file to download before erroring out. This time with the Intel Gigabit Lan with CSA, it downloaded the entire folder with no problems at all.

What a world of difference, and one reason I have mostly used Intel systems. AMD has never had a real good dependable platform regardless how good their processors are. Even their original dual Athlon boards were problematic. Nice to just sit back and do my business with no computer glitches.

Oh and a great benefit now to actually be able to USE my Xdrive! :) Thanks
