Service Technician Job Description

Michaelson’s Appliance Repair is looking for an appliance repair technician to join our team. As a repair technician, you will be responsible for repair, service, and inspecting electric, gas, or steam powered residential appliances. You will be responsible for diagnosing issues, replacing parts, and ensuring appliances are functioning correctly while providing excellent customer service. 

You will also act as the primary educator for customers to explain the diagnosis along with the repair and offering appliance care advice. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Service and repair appliances according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards

  • Diagnose problems with appliances and determine the best course of action for repair

  • Communicate with manufacturers while on scene to provide the best repair for the customer

  • Disassemble appliances, repair or replace defective parts, then reassemble appliances using schematics 

  • Test and troubleshoot appliances to ensure proper function and safety before leaving customers residence

  • Maintain accurate records of repairs performed, parts installed or not installed, time spent, and fees collected on each job

  • Educate customers on proper use and maintenance of appliances to prevent further issues

  • Work with the dispatch team to create the best routes

  • Work with the parts department to order, check in, and return parts

  • Keep up to date with with the latest technology and repair techniques

  • Interact with parts department to verify availability of parts to ensure quality and timely service calls

  • Understand and communicate service fees and collect appropriately from customers

  • Adhere to safety regulations and company policies at all times


 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma (Degree or certificate in appliance repair strongly preferred)

  • 2+ years experience in appliance repair

  • Sealed System Experience 

  • Ability to pass ongoing driving, background and drug screenings

  • Clean Drivers License and EPA License

  • Excellent customer service skills, communication, and problem solving skills

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
