All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:
Click here to go to the forum topic with the registration link. If you're interested, register now. Arrive a couple minutes early to make sure your connection is working. Set a reminder for yourself for this workshop so you don’t miss it.  And check out past workshops here: https://appliantology.org/announcement/33-webinar-recordings-index-page/

Frigidaire Window A/C Won't Cool FAX052P7

Billstrom

Recommended Posts

5000 BTU, manufactured 11/05.  Full model code is FAX052P7A7 Electrolux/Frigidaire.

We have two of these units, one in each bedroom.  Both purchased about 2 yrs ago, both have worked flawlessly.

Now one won't cool.  Fan blows, fan control works.  You can hear the compressor kick on after a slight delay when the temp knob is turned to lo cool or max cool.

I've cleaned the filter (only a bit dirty).  Cycled the power.  No change.

What's wrong?

This humble student awaits guidance...

If the compressor starts and stays running would guess you either have a compressor broken internally or you have lost all of the freon....if this is so take it to have it repaired, at a Frigidaire authorized servicer,  look at your manual that came with the unit, sealed system should have a 5 year warranty, but I am not sure...this is what I have read..

the top of the compressor may have a burnt wire or a bad one of these:

Okay guys, finally wrestled it out of the 3rd floor window and down to my shop in the garage and tore it open...

Everything looks fine.  capacitor, compressor both look normal, no leaks and nothing swollen.  Wiring all looks good, nothing melted or scortched.  fan turns easily.

There's not much to these, is there?

I guess I'm stuck taking it to a factory service place... will they charge anything?  At $100 each I'm already thinking its not worth my time... thoughts?

Thanks again,

If the compressor is running you have either a broken compressor or you have lost the freon....take it to Frigidaire auth service for warranty repairs, your use and care book will give the warranty coverage, believe is 5 years on the sealed system from what I have read and been told...take your recript for proof of sale date.
