TRANE XE80 FURNACE

smokehouse

Recommended Posts

Hello! Thanks for the help repairing my stove a few months ago; now a new problem rears its ugly head! My Trane XE80 furnace receives the call for heat, the relays do their work, the igniter glows and the flames kick in for about 2 seconds, at which point they go out. The igniter stays glowing, the flames kick in again for about 2 seconds, and go out once again. After the third attempt the igniter goes out and the fan just blows unheated air. Any ideas as to what is ailing this thing? It's getting cold in here! Thanks in advance!

Your flame proving device is not sensing the flame.  See if there is a probe on the opposite end of the gas manifold ...if there is you can try cleaning it up with a green scrub pad and put it back in.

If your hot surface ignitor is serving as the flame proving switch also, you may have to replace it.
