All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological.
We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!
Who: This workshop is only available to tech members at Appliantology.
When: Saturday, April 27 @10:00 AM Eastern Time.
      Where: Online via Zoom
      How:

Carrier Split System A/C

Hi folks

Headed to our guest cabin to turn on the A/C unit for the first time this summer and "it doesn't want to turn on" no matter how much I say I love it.:D

The unit is 6 years old.  Professional installation in June 2003.  Has been operating well the past five summers.

So far today I have:

  • changed batteries in the remote
  • reset the remote
  • checked the main electrical panel and turned the breaker off and on again
  • turned off the "fused disconnect" and turned it back on
  • switched from REMOTE to EMERG

Still no joy.

I am not certain that the inside unit is getting power as no red or green lights have come on and there is no beep when the remote send a signal.

It would be most appreciated if someone could walk me through where to check to be sure there is power at the indoor unit (I have a multi-meter).  Also, is there something I should check, other than the ON/OFF switch, in the "fused disconnect" box outside.

Is there something else I need to check?

I hope this is something simple and I want to cover as much as possible before I have to call in the service folks.

Thanks for your time

Bob

Was able to confirm today there is power at the fused disconnect box outside but still no joy when trying to start the unit with the remote or in emerg position.

Still waiting for suggestions.

Thanks

Bob.
