service manual for maytag DE19CS dryer

i've never had to change the run time on one of these old maytags

and i'd prefer not to use the trial and error method  :P

I though I has something, but it's for the MDE16

Is the coin value adjustmnent on the DE189CS only the mechanics of the Coin Slide ?

i'm trying to adjust the time each cycle runs for, not the dollar amount of the cycle

this is an older mechanical timer that has a large grey cam that is activated by the slide

i know its adjustable cause a sticker says... consult the service manual or installation instruction to adjust run time

Budget Appliance Repair

All coin-op dryers that use the mechanical timer as shown in the picture RegUs posted use the same method to determine the run time for one push of the coin slide.

Find timer motor speed, (most are 1/180 rpm), divide the number of pins on the cam in the the denominator of the motor speed to give you the number of minutes for one push of the coin slide.

For a 1/180 rpm motor which all I've seen are.

Pins on cam  --- Minutes

  3   60

  4   45

  6   30

  8   22.5

12 15

I think they make a 12 pin cam but I'm not positive of that.

 

You can make an 8 pin cam into a 4 pin/6 pin into a 3 pin/12 pin into a 6 pin  by cutting off each alternating pin if you don't have the correct cam handy.

Most units I see use a 4 pin cam, (45 minutes will usually dry pretty good), and then you can set the coin slide amount for what you want, (generally $1.00 to $1.50 per dry).
