All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

The first time this happened I took apart the freezer evaporator, got the evap pan most of the way off (not all the way - too scary). There was lots of ice, so I got all that out of there, put everything back together, and it was good for a year or so (maybe two years).

It happened again, so I did the same thing - but not much ice this time. Put it all back together, and it was fine for a week or so, now it's doing it again.

I'm wondering if it is something else? I'd like to verify the damper operation. My primitive manual says there are two dampers and a duct? I can see one damper, and I'm trying to find out where the others are - if I can find them, I can run the test to show they are opening and closing ok.

If it's the evaporator - probably a defrost problem - is that a part I can replace myself?

So if I had a good manual - describing the dampers & ducts - that would be great -

Thanks!

Page 6 shows the location of the evaporation thermister. Make sure that puppy is in its proper location and ain't wiggled out of position. Check all of them for proper specs as mentioned in the manual . That would be what I would do.

Let me know if my links are working so I can download them differently if you cannot access the manual.
