All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological: bidness, customers, tools, troubleshooting, flavorite brewski, whatever. Webcams and microphones are open and live!
This workshop is also a great time for any students at Master Samurai Tech to bring any and all questions about the coursework. We're happy to walk through any concepts you're having trouble with. Think of it like office hours with your teachers.
If you have a specific appliance problem you'd like us to talk about, post it here! We need a problem statement and a PDF of the tech sheet or schematic so we can all see it on screen share. If you have a PDF that isn't already in the File library here at Appliantology, send it to us by attaching it to the contact form.
Also, follow this Calendar Event so you'll get notified of new posts here. Look for the "Follow" button either at the top of the topic on desktop or below the topic on mobile.

Is there an industrial type covering that is made for the short run of suction line from the outside unit to the house or is there only foam?

Which insulation do you think is better the old fiberglass roll or pellets?

What you are looking for is a black colored closed cell type foam insulation that is uv resistant. Rubbatex and Armaflex are two brand names often seen. This is not the same stuff as the grey lightweight junk they sell at home improvement stores.

As far as home insulation goes, I am not a big fan of the neverending mess that comes with blown in insulation, But it is the cheapest way to go(not best r- value wise, just cheapest).

Fiberglass is better , but very expensive if you are going to use the correct thickness (r-value)for an attic.

If you are serious about doing something that will truely improve things , then Spray foam is the way to go. Most attics that I go into with spray foam are usually no hotter in the attic than it is outside. That is pretty impressive considering that same attic might have been 120-140 degrees with no spry foam insulation.
