Disabling the Icemaker

3 posts in this topic

How do I disable the icemaker in our Kenmore refrigerator with bottom-mount freezer.  We don't use the icemaker, but it makes a weird humming sound every hour or so.  Thanks!  Jane.

The humming noise is the fill valve humming when the ice maker calls for water.  Either just raise the on/off arm to the off position or  remove the ice maker from the frig...

Or, if you don't want to worry about loosing parts or the complete icemaker if you at sometime decide you want the icemaker, just unplug the plug to the icemaker.

That way you won't have the shutoff arm sticking up and getting knocked back into the one position and everything is all still in one piece ready to go back in service if every wanted again.
