Maytag Atlantis - Noise during spin cycle

6 posts in this topic

Looking for some help with my washer which is progressively making a louder roar during the spin cycle each time it is used.  The sound does not occur during the other cycles.

I lifted the machine and pulled the belt and then spun the pulleys.  Nothing of note.

I opened the machine and everything loogs okay with the exception of some white fiberous material in the center.  It almost looks as if some type of pad is wearing.

Here is the link to a YouTube video so you can see and hear the problem.

Any insight you can provide is appreciated!

Thanks!

sounds like a bearing. What's the model number?

The white residue on the baseplate around the transmission is from the snubber ring.  But that's not the source of the noise.  I agree with Brother Tpoindexter that it's a tub bearing noise and would need the model number to give you more info.
