Armstrong Oil Furnace.

I haven't posted here in a long time, hopefully you guys or gals can help me. Long story short, a few years ago the blower motor on my Armstrong Ultra 80 oil furnace started to fail. The furnace is about ten years old. Being a pretty good DIY kind of guy, I disassembled the blower housing and removed the motor. My plan was to bring the motor to the supply house and get a new motor, but the motor sat in my truck for a few months and come cold weather, all the parts had been lost except the blower housing. So, now I had a furnace without a blower and absolutely no heat in my house. What to do, well I bought a coal stove and have heated my house with coal ever since. However, the time has come to repair the furnace, maybe even sell the house and move to a town with a better school system for my kids. But, after extensive searching I can't find anyplace to buy a new blower housing with motor anywhere. I can't even cross-reference the blower housing by size using different websites such as Grainger etc. Can anyone provide me with the correct model numbers or website where I can buy a new blower with the motor? Please, this has turned out to be a disaster when it started out so simple. Thanks, and I hope someone can help.

From an old email I found the following specs that I emailed. The motor is an AO Smith 1/2 hp and the blower housing was about 12-1/4 wide x 17 tall. The blowers outlet flange measured 12 x 11-3/4.

I would check with vendors of used restraunt equipment,HVAC companies,the older the better.The restraunt guys tend to frequent auctions and generally have a yard full of old junk/treasures. If you start calling around you will surely find something. Where are you located, anywhere near Maine?

Armstrong is still in buisness, have you called them?

RE Michels is the Armstrong distributor. They are Wholesale only but may be able to help you decide what specs the original unit had. If you still have the housing and squerrel cage you just need a motor. Grainier has HVAC PSC motors.

Triple-check your furnace for a model number. It's easy to get in lots of trouble with a "universal" blower motor. One, it might be too long to fit into your cabinet. Two, the flat on the shaft might be just a whisker shy of letting the set screw lock securely, meaning your blower wheel will get loose and shred itself. Three, clockwise direction to them ain't necessarily clockwise direction to you. And fourth, check for the model number again.
