      All Appliantology tech members are invited to join in this workshop on all things Appliantological. 
      We have a special session planned for this one. Instead of the usual Show 'n Tell on a technical topic, we're going to post tech sheets in the comments to this Calendar Event (scroll down to see what's posted so far) and ask specific questions that can only be answered by reading the tech sheet. If you at least try to answer the questions beforehand, you'll get a lot more out of it. The tech sheet and the questions are posted in the comments section below.
      Your mission, if you should choose to accept it, is to check out the questions for each one and try to answer them ahead of time. Then come to the Dojo to see how well you did!

New Blower wheel

I had to replace my belt driven blower wheel, because the old one was making a chattering noise. Although, the one ordered was stated to be the same size as the old one, what came in was ~1/2 in wider in the diameter. The wheel still fit in the unit with room to spare. I adjusted the wheel as not to hit the housing unit and installed it with the fins in what I thought were the same direction as old. I tested the unit prior to reinstalling it and it seemed to run fine with almost no noise. The old unit ran counter clockwise. I left the new wheel turning in the same direction. Air was being blown out. I reinstalled the unit into the furnace. When the unit turned on I noticed at registers that new wheel was blowing out air at about 1/2 -2/3rds the old rate and from the returns a high pitched winning noise can be heard. Would a larger wheel not push as much air? Might it be turning in the wrong direction? Any help would be great.

A new wheel that is bigger should produce more airflow. It is most likely in backwards. a wheel that is in wrong will put out about 30% - 50 % of normal

airflow. see my crappy drawing below for correct blade alignment.
