Ruud compressor question

I have a 1994 Ruud air conditioning unit with a Copeland ZR34k1-pfv-230 compressor. It recently started making a loud vibration noise. It is vibrating the low pressure line which is in turn vibrating my basement trusses where it's clamped and is causing a loud noise in the house. I pulled the cover and it sounds like the compressor is on the way out. My question is regarding a replacement. The Copeland cross reference I found shows a model ZR34K3-pfv-230 to be the replacement. I'm having difficulty find one. What else can I replace this with? Will a higher output BTUH compressor work ok?

WOW, at that price plus shipping and refrigerant , you are getting into the relm of replacing the whole unit. It is not worth trying to revive a R-22 system when the fix will be close to $1500.  R-22

WOW, at that price plus shipping and refrigerant , you are getting into the relm of replacing the whole unit. It is not worth trying to revive a R-22 system when the fix will be close to $1500.  R-22 is being phased out and as such the price is getting higher every month. They will totally stop manufacturing it in 2020.  It is already over $500 a drum on wholesale level. ( used to be $20 a drum a few years ago). 

 

If you have access to affordable refrigerant, then go for it. otherwise consider a new 410a system.
