Just received the information packet today, and it looks like we'll be selling and servicing the new Maytag Vacuum Cleaner.  I guess I'm in good company with the Fuller Brush Man, which is another division of Tacomy.

I swear things repeat themselves.  I thought Maytag learned their lesson that buying Hoover was a bad business decision.  Now they sold the name to another vacuum cleaner company kinda like they did when Fedders made room air conditioners for Maytag, and how they sold the Magic Chef name to E-Wave, the cheap throw away "toy" appliances sold by Home Depot.

Still on the fence about it.  Is there still a market for a $600-$800 household vacuum cleaner?  Carry in warranty repairs could show promise, unlike similar portable a/c or dehumidifier warranty repair, which end up costing us time and money.  We'll see.

 

Funny you mentioned MC E-Wave.  I guess I haven't been in Home Depot for a while, and I know they sell a lot of crap that can't be repaired (remember the beverage dispensers).  But I must still be out of touch.  We do provide warranty service for MC, and normally we'll get an e-mailed work order w/case # to initiate service.  But I got a call from a lady just this morning to repair an in warranty "Vissani" refrigerator.  I had to ask her to spell it twice before saying that I never even heard of the product and probably couldn't get replacement parts.  Right about then I get the MC e-mail for the job.  After speaking with the customer, it will be a sealed system problem most likely not related to the compressor.  She might be getting a new throw away frig.

Had a phone call Friday from a lady saying her Dyson doesnt suck.......I asked my office manager who took the call if she asked the lady to verify she had emptied it......I dont do house hold vacuums with the exception of builtin vacs.  Portables are too cheap to replace and not any money in it for me.  Takes to long to find parts etc.

However, I have made a couple of dimes working on the blowers, dryers, and clipper vacuums commonly used in pet grooming salons.  Its actually how I Segued into appliance repairs.
