Greetings omnipotent one,

The spouse complains that the dryer takes to long.  The mother in-law chimed in with "you should check to see if the vent is plugged".  Doubtful if she comes by such wisdom from appliantology internet surfing,  but  I couldn't let her have the last word. After reveiwing your recommendations regarding vent installations I can see some modifications are probably necessary. What I'm wondering is if there is a way to check the burner condition.  It is the only repar/diagnostic info which I haven't been able to find.  I await your response ASAP; Arigatou,  O Master of the ways of Appliantology..................LS :notworthy:

Ahh, grasshoppah, a very simple test is all that's needed: disconnect the vent hose from the back of the dryer, take is all the way off, no cheating! Then run the dryer and observe the heat cycle. If the burner cycles normally, then you have proven the vent is the root of all evil here.

Greetings Oh Wise One,

Your diagnosis was spot on!  Prior to  receiving your wisdom about vent line lengths I was totally unaware that it might be an issue.  I checked the configuration on the dryer and it was over 25 ft long with at least 3-90's in the line before exhausting out the side of the house. I replaced it with one of about 4 ft with one 90 in the line.  My vent pressure is amazing compared to before.  I only have one question?  Is a vent line layout like I had before ( new construction sub-contractor H&V guy installation) unusual for new home construction?  Respond at your convenience, thanx again Master of laundry, kitchen & other stuff!!.........LS:cheers:

Dryer venting is the most abused and misunderstood aspect of appliantology; dishwasher drainology would be a close second. Let this sacred scroll of wisdom enlighten you further:
